WHAT IS COVERED IN THIS COURSE
Onsite checks – how to prepare your site, what to look out for, checking you have the correct materials before you begin work, checking your windows are the correct size and have been measured correctly before removing old products
Checking bay angles and variable bay angles are correct.
What to look out for on existing bay windows, load bearing bay windows, bow bays, bay canopies and supporting loads.
Bay supports to underside of external cills.
New Window preparation – preparing your window frames for installation
Installation of external cill and framework– providing installation techniques, where to set your product prior to fixing and what to look out for, where to fix and how, where to seal.
Glazing technique – how to handle your double or triple glazed units. Window beading, packing and glazing your window framework.
Finishing and cleaning/sealing – this will provide you with skills on how to complete your installation and how to ensure the installation is not only weathertight but also looks cosmetically pleasing. This will include demonstration and hands on skills of various masonry alternatives such as brick and render finished properties.
Daily assessments – these assessments will ensure the knowledge you have gained on a daily basis is tested for accuracy.
Overall assessment – This will be your final day and a practical as well as a written assessment will be required to ensure you can gain the first pro-fitter accreditation.
